Seeing Through the Eyes of the Unseen
Ms Charlie Jene’ is a
professional performer who loves to sing the Blues.
Ms Jene is also a visually challenged, handy and capable person, who wants to share
her gift with Wee People who have a passion for music. For many Wee People the
challenges associated with blindness are emotionally devastating and Charlie is
intimately aware of this.
Yes, this is who Charlie is. If it is not clear, you can ask her yourself, but
be ready for an “EDUCATION” on the subject, “Daring 2 Dream”.
MISSION:
HEAL’S Wee Arts People’s “Daring to Dream” (D2D) seeks to inspire
visually challenged Wee People who have a penchant, desire for and a love of
music by introducing Wee People to professional performers, teachers mentors
and friends who share the same visual challenge as our Wee People.
GOAL:
D2D, will help Wee
People move from being handicapped to handy-capable and to move from being
disabled to differently able Wee Performers. D2D intends to say to our Wee People, “you can be
anything you want”. If your desire is to sing- then we will provide voice
coaching; if you desire to write music - we will teach you how to create lyrics
and if you wish to play an instrument - we will teach you that as well.
OBJECTIVES:
- To create a service organization that caters to
visually challenged Wee People,
- Service kindergarten > 5th grade students
interested in Music,
- To introduce them to visually challenged,
handy-capable and other differently able performers that can reassure them
that they too can become performers,
- To provide all of the tools and services they will
need to fore fill their Dream,
- To provide a professional therapist as a program
overseer to ensure that the emotional needs of the children and parents
are met, while they are involved in this program,
- To provide them with hands on music nurturing to
allow them to learn, share and grow into their Musical Being by Daring 2 Dream.
